I was just thinking… yes! I do think! And I’m not blond! LOL
Just like there are web spiders searching for each and every page, so their owners can show some results on their search engines, I bet spamers have their own too.
No matter how they get your email, the problem is that if they run a simple search in Google using your email address they can find too much information about you.
For instance, if I type my email at Google I learn a bit about myself. I like Mono, Google, ASP.Net; I use pastebin, I’ve a blog and worst: I’m 21 years old and I’m called Alexandre Gomes! I bet that if they match all this information and do a kind of “cross-searching” they can get all my other email accounts, msn profiles, irc talks (public ones of course) and eventually some photos.
I just hope that some evil mind don’t develop such system, or we all will be in trouble, receiving personalized spam with your own photo.
I guess I’ll be more careful from now on…
the most annoying thing about spam is that you really do not need
that information.
personalized spam is not spam at all it’s information that you need and that’s good.
You shouldn’t be surprised. It’s something I
like to call a person’s “Internet Profile”.
There is a ton of information you can find out about someone depending on how “noisy” they have been on the net. Cross-referencing and searching
again w/ information obtained from previous searches can yield more results. Try it on someone sometime. You can sometimes get a very good idea about someone, even maybe where they live including
satellite imagery, etc…
elephantum,
I doubt to disagree but It’s still SPAM, If
personal info was used the SPAM may be closer to the target, it *may* be usefull, but it’s still SPAM!.
